En route to Culdaff this is a small pier with a pebbly beach. Small and off the beaten track there are plenty of these small quiet beaches along the peninsula
The launching pad for a trip to Inistrahull , tor rocks or Rockall, if really adventurous.
Malin head beach.
I will continue on towards Culdaff on our beach visit to Inishowen
Yes you guessed it!
Never Inhabited and only 4 people have ever slept on it and only 100 have landed on it!
Six miles off the Mainland last lived in in 1923/1924.
Slightly to the left are the most northerly rocks in Ireland….well nearly!!!
The Tor Rocks…..
So what is the most northerly rocks or rock?
You cannot go much further north and still be in Ireland….
Or can you……….
Malin head coastguard would not have been able to help here!
Im not sure if it was a torpedo or a mine, but this Sherman Tank on its way to D-Day lies in the waters off Malin head.
With the ever changing moods of the sea this is one of the most important facilities in Donegal.
It provides local knowledge and quick response to sea accidents and rescues. An intimate knowledge of the sea helps also. Most staff are ex seafarers.
